The service life of the injection mold is calculated according to the actual qualified products produced, which is also the reference basis for the mold life required by the customer. The injection mold can be divided into different grades by its lifespan served. Injection molds with more than 1 million shots require hardened mold steel, and the manufacturing price is expensive. In general, the lifespan of a common injection mold is between 100,000 and 300,000. There are also some injection molds with a lifespan of 10,000 or less, these molds are mainly sued for structural verification and are cheap in production.
The service life of the mold depends not only on the mold processing technology and mold steel but also on the environment and other factors when the mold is running. So, what are the factors that affect the service life of injection molds?
1.Working status and environment
The environment of the injection mold used and the operation of the working condition are the major factors that influence the service life of the injection mold.
2.Working hours controlling
After the injection mold has been used for a period of running, it needs to be maintained or inspected, which can prolong the service life. On the contrary, it will influence the working condition of the mold.
3.Mold steel
The mold steel used to manufacture injection molds determines the upper limit of the service life of the mold. If the mold has a good working condition and has been maintained properly, the lifespan of the mold can even exceed the expected runs.
